Index For LVS BUILDI Web Page Building Class

This has been a challenging course, but the satisfaction that comes with gaining an understanding of how web pages are constructed more than outweighs the frustrations of getting there. Our instructor was the soul of patience and additional help when we needed it. It was an all around good experience and kept the brain cells pumping.

Week 1

Week 1 found us setting up directories, getting started with XHTML and CSS, and generally learning what web editor to use as well as some standard declarations that are a part of each of our pages. Then we studied head and paragraph tags and learned how to upload our files to the LVS web server.

Week 2

Week 2 found us visiting some color sites and learning how to insert a background image. We were introduced to the CSS valiation site and learned some special formatting and how to handle links

Week 3

Week 3 covered CSS font and class properties and we learned how to style our pseudo-classes.

Week 4

Week 4 was fun (for a while). We learned all about images and how to resize and place them in our page. Then the fun stopped when we got to Classes and Divs and Spans.

Week 5

By Week 5 we were really getting into styling our pages using margins and padding. We learned how to style a data table and place it on our page.

Week 6

Week 6, our final week, addressed the use of Meta tags. We created directories for images and lessons and learned to build an Index page. The lessons were a lot of work, but I must admit I'll kind of miss them.
