As an Internet Kid I will show you how to shop online Securely. It can be a dangerous Game if you dont know what your doing.

What think I was gonna teach you how to buy online without first teaching you how to secure yourself.

I am going to assume you have a paypal account. I would suggest a paypal account cause most of the time they can get your money back for you if it is still in there bank. Ive only had one problem with paypal. I bought Donnie Dark dvd off ebay for 7 dollars. nothing to get worried about. I filed a claim with paypal but the person that was selling the dvd cleared his bank account and closed it. Guess what paypal does. give up they tell me I won the claim and that if the guy ever opens up an account I will get my 7 dollars hahaha

When buying online always check the URL of the website. just cause it looks like ebay,amazon,frys, etc. does not mean it is. Someone could have stole there code changed a few lines so when you enter your card information it emails that person your information. then it will usually tell you that you must log in and your back to your actual page not knowing you just gave your information.

Know who you are dealing with

feedback is key
you find a nice antique table going for 100 and its a great table. you want to purchase it. but you listen to my advice and check his feedback. Positive feedback 44 percent. Hmm that dont seem to bad. wrong that must mean his negative feedback must be 56 percent. so you decide to read his comments and find out he does not ship items or lesser quality items. Dont waste your time with him.

When working with feedback always read comments. You may find out the reason his feedback is in the negatives is cause people who dont know what they are doing are leaving him negative feedback cause UPS or some other mail carrier is taking there time with the package. Once the item is out of the Sellers hands its not his fault if the mail carrier decides to eat a bag of peanuts on the box and it takes forever to get to you.

Ebay can be a tricky place to shop. Once you figure out how to shop there, you can get endless amount of deals.

People will try and rip you off without even knowing it. What you should always due is check Shipping and Handling.

your probably thinking but the item is going for 10 dollars and its a 20 dollar item thats a good deal. that may be but if you check shipping and handling some people will try and get you there. Say normal shipping is 5 dollars for the item. You decide to take my advice probably thinking in your head that your gonna miss out on a deal of a lifetime. Just when thats going through your head you read the shipping and handling. 120 Dollars shipping and handling. he cant do that its wrong. Well I hate to break it to you but he can do that.

Another thing with ebay is if you purchase more than one item from the same seller you can sometimes, NOT ALWAYS, get a discount on shipping.

That should be a friendly reminder to always check the ins and outs of something before you bid or buy the Item.

Craigslist.com

Craigslist is full of scams so be careful. Only deal locally and cash only.

Why Cash only? Well simple. A common Scam on Craigslist would be they want to buy your table that you are selling for 100 dollars. great that gets you an easy 100 dollars and one less table you have to worry about. He tells you that hes gonna send you a money order for 1,000 Dollars and you cash it take your 100 and his guy will come pick up the remainder of the cash and your table. If you fall for this scam you should not be buying and selling online.

The Reality of it. Great you cashed the money order. got your 100 and he got the 900 remaining and your table. Knock Knock Knock. Cops are at your door. Why are you being brought in for questioning. Simple you cashed a fradulent money order. your forced to pay back the 1000 dollars. They guy you sold your table to is laughing. He got a nice table he can sell for 100 dollars or less. and hes got 900 dollars off the deal.

Ive shopped at Amazon many times and found out a few tricks.

Say You find a DVD for 10 dollars on there brand new great add it to your shopping cart. you pay about 4 dollars Shipping and Handling. But wait. 14 Dollars and you have to wait. Not worth it go buy it at your local Target or something.

Then again you can go to the xx used and new available from xx.xx (x being numbers). so you click on xx used and new. whats this your dvd that you are buying for 10 dollars is listed there for 3.67 condition says used - Like New. read description if they have one. Most will be very clean and worth buying most my dvd's I buy online are from amazon. they are well known and can be trusted to get your items. Most the Dvd's I buy online I pay at max 6 dollars per dvd.

If you follow that Tip over time you will save a ton. Instead of spending 14 dollars on that Rocky DVD, you just spent 7 dollars on it. Now if that is not a deal I dont know what is.

Keys to Selling

Advertising is the main key here. say your browsing the site looking for an item I have you may or may not find it. now if I advertise im selling it all over the internet and word of mouth. you will type in what your looking for and find out that I have it cause it will be on a couple different websites. Remember to always Advertise.. Just dont Spam. Spam is evil. People will just start ignoring your post if you spam.

Find out if it is worth selling on the internet or to a local dealer. depending on what your selling. If your trying to sell a book that sells for a dollar at any bookstore and you are trying to sell it online for say 50 cents. nobody is going to want it cause shipping alone is gonna be 4 to 5 dollars depending on the weight of your book. Always think to yourself. Would I want to spend 4 dollars and 5 cents for a book I can pick up at the local bookstore for 1 dollar. if you say yes. I will be glad to sell you everything I own. Then I can just go and buy it back at a local store and still have a ton of money left over. Do I hear Hawaii Calling my name.

Do research on items you are trying to sell. you may find out that 50 cent book you are trying to sell is actually worth 1,000 dollars. If you did not do any research on it some lucky person is going to be doing a happy dance. they just bought a 1,000 dollar book for 50 cents. Even if you did not know how to dance im sure you would attempt a happy dance. Research can be good and can be bad. Say you have a 200 dollar book that you have been trying to sell. no luck. you drop it to 100 dollars. still no luck. You think back and look at this lovely page and think hey wait a minute slayer said to do research. I forgot to do some research. Several minutes later you return and have a sad face on. the 200 dollar book you have been trying to sell is actually only for 5 dollars. no wonder you could not sell it. you put your book up on ebay for 5 dollars and bam its gone with 24hrs. thats 5 dolalrs you did not have in your pocket. take that 5 and invest it in more books.
