Vitamin D is also known as Calciferol. It is a fat soluble vitamin that can be found in food. It can also be made by the body by exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Sources of Vitamin D

Fortified foods such as milk would be one source. Others sources include salmon, sardines, shrimp and eggs.

Vitamin D Deficiency

A person who is deficient in Vitamin D may develop Rickets or Osteomalacia.
