Caribbean Country Celebrates Independence: Castries, St. Lucia.

On February 22, 2006, my island St. Lucia will be celebrating 27 years of independence from Great Britain.

It is a time of great national pride as one and all take part in one of the long list of activities that are slated to take place in the week of activities which begins on February 19, and ends on February 26. Some of the activities are:

  • Church Service
  • Craft Exhibition,
  • Bike Show
    • The major event is the National Youth Rally and Parade which is held on Wednesday 22, which is also a National Holiday. Most events are broadcast live on TV and Radio, hoping to reach the majority of the population.
