The Virginia Museum of Transportation, known affectionally as the "Train Shop" is located in Roanoke, Virginia.
It is a special place for adults and children both.
I recently visited the Museum when they were bringing back the restored Norfolk & Western J Class locomotive back to the Museum, and actually got to see it run.

The O-Gauge train layout has a special glass front area very close to the ground. This makes it very easy for children to watch the trains run by.
