This is my last assignment for the Build I course. It's been a lot of fun and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my instructor and my classmates. I give them all the credit. So we have a few things to do with this last page. I'll show you paintings by my favorite artists. Explain to you the difference between selectors and classes. We'll also review my favorite books. Have fun!
The Finale Favorite Artists Selectors and Classes My Favorite Books
Susan Seddon Boulet has been a long time favorite of mine. She was one of the first new age artists and painted over 3000 paintings in her lifetime. She died of cancer at the age of 53. At the end of her life she only painted bears. They were her totem animals. My favorite paintings of hers, and there are many, are shown on this page. They are "Grandfather Wolf" and "Playing with the North Wind"
Jody Bergsma is absolutely my next favorite. Her paintings of the Pacific Northwest Totem Poles combined with fantasy and totem animals is one of my favorites. I have always been fascinated with totem poles and the Pacific Northwest Native Americans who built them.
Among my other favorite artists are Monet and his "Water Lilies" paintings. Melissa Harris. is one of my favorites also. Though I only like one painting of hers. "Talk to the Moon" is the one I like and I bought it several years ago. It hangs in my bedroom. Being a visual person art is very important to me. I have many kinds of art in my home, native american textiles, masks, books and figurines.
Selectors define function, while classes define form. For instance the body tag, headings and paragraph tags are function and tell web browsers what and where to display while classes tell browsers how to display. If you wanted several paragraphs to be a different color and have a different background then you would use a class. A selector tells all paragraphs to display a certain way. Classes give you more design options.
Some of my very favorite books include the “The Hobbit” and the “Lord of the Rings” series. Tolkien found me at the age of 12 in my school library. I have read all four books every year since then. He is a master at adjectives and a wonderful writer. All fantasy novels are basically a J.R.R. Tolkien book with different characters. Tolkien did not just write a book he invented several languages, time lines and histories that explain explain the beginning of Middle Earth.
Horror novels are really not my thing but Stephen King is a master writer. Good writers are hard to come by and Stephen King is a master at his art. Jean Auel, author of the “Clan of the Cave Bear series” is another favorite and plays to my interest in archeology and anthropology. “Son Rise” by Barry Neil Kaufman is about an autistic boy whose parents never gave up trying to bring him into their world. They realized to bring Raun into their world they would have to live in his. Their son Raun is now as normal as you and I. The Kaufman's found a new treatment for Autism through the love they have for their son. The The Son Rise Program at the Autism Treatment Center
